TUXEDO - Transactions Under uniX Extended for Distributed Operations
A bit of history:
TUXEDO, now an Oracle product was originally created by AT&T in 1983 for the creation and administration of OSS (Operation Support Systems).
Oracle got TUXEDO when it acquired BEA in 2008. BEA acquired the right to develop and distribute TUXEDO from Novell in 1996.
Novell got TUXEDO when it acquired the USL (UNIX System Laboratories) division of AT&T.

1. what causes high CPU usage for a TUXEDO server?
a. This is usually an application code issue. The best way to find the reason is to profile the application. Use a profiler to attach to the server process and find the CPU usage hot spot in the code. If you want a simple test to see if this is a TUXEDO problem, run the SIMPAPP application that comes with the product disribution. If the SIMPAPP server does not exhibit the same CPU problems, it's most likely the application code.
We do recommend using our advisor to optimize TUXEDO perfromance.
